Difference between Mac book pro i7 and i5
The MacBook Pro is a top level laptop in the Macintosh computer lineup of the US technology company Apple inc.It comes with a 64 bit processor or a central processing unit from the top line of i7 or the mid range of i5 division of semi conductor company Intel corps core brand. For the MacBook Pro there are four intel core i5 or i7 choices:one i5 processor called the i5-2415M and three i7 processors, which are the i7-2620M, i7-2635QM and i7-2720QM. Intel Corp. released these CPUs in early 2011.
General Description and Manufacture
The intel core i5 processor, the i5 2415M is a dual core chip consisting of two core or processing units. The i7-2620M is also a dual core CPU’s and the other two are quad core CPU’s,which means the they have twice the amount of processing power as the i5-2415M and the i7-2620M. All four processors, however, have the same size, since they both use the 32-nanometer manufacturing process.
Speeds
The clock speeds or the processing speed of the i5 processor is 2.3GHz.The clock speed of the quad core i7 processors which are 2 GHz for the i7-2635QM and 2.2 GHz for the i7-2720QM. The other i7 processor, however — the i7-2620M — surpasses them all with a clock speed of 2.7 GHz.
Cache and Power Consumption
Both the processors has an Intel smart cache, which is a small memory bank for the the CPU’s high speed access of the computer’s most frequently used data. The i5-2415M offers 3 MB, the i7-2620M offers 4 MB and the i7-2635QM and the i7-2720QM provide 6 MB.
Technologies
Both the processors has in built chip set called the HD graphics 3000 for graphics processing from the computer chip itself.Intel Trusted Execution Technology is added on the i7-2620M and the i7-2720M for safer computing, and every chip except for the i7-2635QM has Execute Disable Bit for antivirus protection.
